Forgotten
Do you ever feel as though God has forgotten you?
There is a story in the Bible of a man who very well could have thought himself to have been forgotten by God. Everyone else surely seemed to forget him. Joseph was the favorite child of his father Jacob. His coat of many colors - an indication of preferential treatment - was the sign of one who had authority.
So what happens?
He is thrown into a pit by his brothers – then sold as a slave.
He is imprisoned on false charges – forgotten for two years by the cupbearer after successfully interpreting his dream.
It isn’t until he is 30 years old that he finds eventual success. 15-20 years may have passed when he could have given up on God – thinking he has been forgotten. It’s at the end of that journey that he says – I now see what God was doing.
God hadn’t forgotten him and he hasn’t forgotten us, either. The question is - have we forgotten him?
