This is all pointless

So how’s the search going?

You say – what search?  I mean the search for happiness, fulfillment, contentment.  How’s it coming along in your life?

That may be too personal.  But there is a story in the Bible of a man who literally had - it - all – everything that one would think would bring him happiness – and he couldn’t find it.  The one word he used to describe it was vanity – literally a puff of air.

The man’s name was Solomon.  He was wealthy –had power – and had women.  In fact, in the book of Ecclessiastes, he names 10 ways he tried to find happiness – and remember – he had the means to achieve every one of these – not like you and me.

He tried entertainment, wine, home-building, vineyards, landscaping, servants, ranching, silver, gold, and concubines.  He literally tried it all. In the end, he said – it was vanity - not enjoyable - no profit.

The next time you try to use material wealth to make yourself happy – remember – it’s been tried before – and it doesn’t work.
