Family Talk

By Dave Phillips

Good news - It’s all about Jesus! During the holiday season (Christmas and New Year’s Weekend), we have many people traveling. That impacts our attendance - even of teachers - for our Wednesday night Bible Study. For that reason, we have traditionally moved our mid-week service a day earlier than usual. We will have times of singing, praying, and shorter messages from the Bible on Tuesday, December 23. We will all meet in the auditorium at 7pm. This is such a good time of fellowship and worship. I hope you’ll attend and bring a friend with you.

We will also do the same on December 30, the night before New Year’s Eve. I know. You may say, as I’ve heard some say, “Why don’t we just meet and see the new year in together?” I can tell you, we did try that several years ago. We had a big meal together and planned entertainment. By 8:30, most folks had gone home. There was a small group of us waiting for midnight to roll around - each embarrassed to say they were ready to leave. A handful stayed until midnight, and by 12:02, the building was locked up. We decided that may not be a good idea. So, in other words, we’ll see you on the Tuesday before Christmas and the Tuesday before New Year’s Day. We’ll all be alive, alert, and awake for a great time of focused praise and prayer. I look forward to seeing you there.

Here is some good news! The Harding Chorus will be presenting a concert at our building on January 10, 2026. The director, Kyle Pullen, called me two months ago asking if they could present a concert as they return from a Winter Tour trip through Western Tennessee. We will be the last concert stop of their short tour (that means they are ‘warming up’ just for us.) More to come! Mark the date for Saturday, January 10 for a 7 pm concert. It will be great!
