Family Talk

By Dave Phillips

It isn't often that you have the chance to attend a birthday party for someone who is 100 years old. We had this distinct privilege last Sunday when many of us celebrated with Art Roberts. Still as sharp as ever, Art represented himself so well amidst all the pictures and memorabilia from days past. Of course, we all have wonderful memories of Art and his late wife, Mary, as they participated in all kinds of activities and they had the ‘scoop’ on everything going on. As a veteran he played a wonderful part in service to our country, and as a current part of our congregation, he displays a wonderful allegiance to the greatest Kingdom ever to be known. Happy birthday, Art!

We had a wonderful one-day meeting with Mark McInteer. We had guests from around the city that came to be with us on Sunday and we were delighted to be encouraged in learning from the apostle Paul as he taught the church at Corinth - and teaches us as well. The baptism of Aiden Kearse was, of course, a great event that we experienced together.

Ann and I will be in Dallas, Texas this weekend to participate in the “Telling the Story” Evangelism Workshop at the Prestoncrest church of Christ. You will be privileged to hear JP Wamble speak at our services here today.

Be sure to keep up with the church calendar so that you can be aware of upcoming activities. It is always good to plan around congregational events so that you can be a part - not only of participating in the events for your own spiritual gain - but also that you might find someone to encourage along the way. We are a church family! We’re glad you are here!
