Family Talk

By Dave Phillips

Ann and I certainly enjoyed a brief but significant trip to Dallas last week to participate in a program called, “Telling the Story!” The entire weekend was filled with people discussing the various ways we reflect God’s purpose as we work and play each day. It was sponsored by the Prestoncrest church of Christ and it was an honor to be asked to teach and an honor to listen to others who had very informative and inspirational lessons. Other than having to explain where Germantown is in Tennessee, it was an ‘easy fit’ with God’s people from another part of the country. I appreciate JP preaching on Sunday morning and night. I heard good things - and I was not surprised. We are blessed with many good people at this church, aren’t we?

It finally feels like our genuine spring weather has arrived, and with it, all the accompanying activities. Spring breaks abound, but unfortunately, they come at different times for different schools. So we trust that you will take advantage of the time for families to be together while making sure you keep in contact with your spiritual family.

You’ll need to mark your calendars for June 14-18 for our Vacation Bible School. This is an evening VBS and we will have classes for children up to the 6th grade, as well as adults. I trust you will want to be a part of this special week. It is always a highlight for the summer.

Our new schedule for Wednesday night classes during the spring quarter began and we have many people coming to sing, pray, study and fellowship together on Wednesday nights. It is always a good time for being reminded of who we are and what we are all about. Memories are made for children that will never be forgotten. At least, on a personal level, I’m glad that my parents made it a priority for us to be at church in order to express our interest in and our dedication to spiritual issues.
