Family Talk

Well, they are here! JP introduces our interns to us today - as he already has on Wednesday night. There is Reagan Vick, who is from here at Germantown, and returns for a second summer with us. She is enjoying studying at Harding University. Ella Gehlert (pronounced GELL-urt) is a student at Freed-Hardeman University. Luke Barnard (pronounced Bur-NARD) is studying at Faulkner University. These three are diving in to helping with ULTIMATE this week, and this will be a great initiation in to meeting and working with youth and adults at Germantown. I’m so glad that we do this work with young people. It gives them a taste of what it is to like to work with a congregation - and gives us all a chance to encourage them! Be sure and meet them all! JP will be investing himself into these young people, as they all work together for a very busy but productive summer. Let’s continue to pray for all of them!
We are now ready for our Summer Series to begin on Wednesday nights. I would invite you to focus your summer on reading and praying about the fruit of the Spirit. The Bible says there are ‘9 flavors’ in the fruit of the Spirit. They are listed in Galatians 5:22-24. Many of our speakers this summer will choose to speak on these topics, so whatever their chosen subject, this will be a great way to hear people from different congregations and ages address these characteristics that are the ‘product’ of the Holy Spirit living in us. Since fruits only appear on mature plants or trees, our goal is to mature in the Lord so that we may produce what He desires in us.
We have a very special Adult Bible class each evening of our Vacation Bible School. Keith Fussell, from the Oliver Creek church in Memphis will be speaking on the topic of Helping Our Digital Kids. You won’t want to miss any of these. He will speak on Sunday evening through Tuesday evening. Justin Rogers, from Freed-Hardeman will be speaking on Wednesday night. You’ll hear more, but make plans now to be at every session! What a great summer!
