Family Talk
By Dave Phillips
The times of worship at Germantown have changed-but not the focus, the nature and the form of worship. One service allows us to gather and see one another! We will now have the ability to look around and see our brothers and sisters worshipping with us. This will also give us the ability and the motivation to ‘catch up’ on current events before and after our worship services. This will allow us to go to Bible class together and grow in Biblical knowledge, pray together for common concerns, and serve together in common efforts. Yes, I love coming together for worship. It is good to see you here and we look forward to continuing that fellowship at our Sunday evening service as well as Wednesday evening.
Speaking of Wednesday evening service, our annual ‘Thanksgiving feast’ was terrific. The food was great, the fellowship was encouraging and the Bible classes that followed (the highlight of it all) allowed us to grow deeper in our faith.
Don’t forget that we will have a Tuesday evening devotional this week, instead of our regular Wednesday night mid-week service. We will come into the auditorium at 7pm and enjoy singing, praying, reading scripture and having Ben Holmes and Charles David Fewell encourage us from the word of God. This will be a delightful devotional service to bring family and friends who might be visiting with you over the holidays. It also is designed to allow families that are traveling for Thanksgiving to ‘hit the road a day earlier. It is a blessing to be able to gather for worship! Let’s encourage each other to worship and encourage each other as we worship.
Many thanks for all the donations for the Shared Blessings! By the time you read this, the event will be history, but the work in following up with people in the study of the Bible is just beginning.
Our new Wednesday night adult classes will begin on December 17. Many thanks to all our teachers who teach God’s word from the youngest to the oldest-and all in between. We are certainly blessed at Germantown with very capable teachers.
