Family Talk

Happy Thanksgiving! Well, we learned that having one service on Sunday morning introduced a few changes that will require a couple of weeks to work out, didn’t we? Most of all, it was just an adjustment to our schedules. That is true for all of us. So, I hope that we are all considerate and thoughtful as we work together to do our best in coming to worship and then joining our Bible classes. It is true that churches that have had classes after worship have generally had a higher percentage of people stay for Bible study. This would also be a great way to invite friends and neighbors to worship with you. We’d all like to meet them!
What a beautiful time of year! The leaves have been spectacular and the pleasant temperatures (I know-it could change overnight) have allowed us to enjoy the sunshine and even enjoy the gentle rain. After all, it is Thanksgiving. I trust that your week was a pleasant one. I’ve been thinking of all the memories that we have during the holiday seasons and that is the focal point of today’s lesson. Even as families are reunited and stories are shared of happy or challenging times, we are reminded that we are not intended to stay here forever. Our home is a much better place, a place where we never grow old and God’s children will enjoy the "fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). We all wish for every member of the Lord’s church at Germantown the very best for Thanksgiving!
Our new classes begin during the month of December. We have several classes that will continue, as well as new ones starting. All I can say is that we have a congregation filled with knowledgeable teachers who are willing to dedicate time to preparing and presenting lessons on many different topics. We also have classes for children that will help them in Bible study as well as learning to grow together with children their own age. I can’t think of anywhere that is specifically designed to help us in our spiritual maturity than Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. They’ll come if we bring them. They’ll return if they see that you are also experiencing spiritual growth in your classes are sharing with them.
