Family Talk

I suppose you couldn’t have crafted a more full amount of activity for two weeks than we (I) have experienced.
While we were out of the country on a tour of the trek of the apostle Paul, it was announced that Joseph Horton has been selected to be the new preacher at Germantown, beginning his work in January of 2027. What an answer to our collective prayers! I’ve never met Joseph, though I have had one telephone conversation since the announcement. Please keep this good family in your prayers through this transition.
Our group of 19 travelers made it back from a 12 day trip to Greece, where we traveled many of the same roads that the apostle Paul traveled and visited some of the same towns that he would have visited. It was a great trip! As we ended our trip, I asked a group of people eating what was their most memorable part of the trip. One of the travelers who was a guest of one of our own members immediately said, “It was the worship service in Athens, Greece! I never experienced anything like I saw and was more convinced of the need for mission work like they are doing.” I was pleasantly surprised by her response because I was intentionally wanting us to visit the Glyfada church of Christ and see, among others, our very own mission couple, Alfred and Diana Zike. It was outstanding! I went 2 days early and spent two Sundays worshipping with them, but the group as a whole visited the second Sunday and it was thrilling. I preached at the English speaking congregation on the first Sunday, and our son, Andrew, preached at the Greek speaking service on September 6, with Dino Russo, translating for him. We witnessed the baptism of a young lady from Iran, who with her husband, were thrilled to be added to the body of Christ. We came back weary but with a different perspective on Bible facts.
