A Crippling Emotion

Do you want to know what the most crippling, devastating emotion we can experience?

I think a good case could be made for fear – simple fear.

Jesus told a story about a wealthy man going on a journey, dividing his money between his servants in various proportions. Two of the three servants were very industrious and the result of their use of the money was very positive.

When the wealthy man came back and learned of their accomplishments – he praised them and rewarded them. But one of those servants was so paralyzed by fear that he went and buried the money so afraid that he would lose any of it. The wealthy man scolded him not for his fear – but for his laziness.

At the very least the man could have put the money in the bank to draw interest – but as it is – no gain.  His paralyzing fear cost him everything.

Jesus repeatedly said, “Don’t be fearful.”  You see – he rewards faith.
