Temporary Barns

How much time do you spend worrying?

You may say, “These are difficult times – everyone is worrying about the future.”

Well, maybe – maybe not. Many people are doing very well in times of difficulty – and they may be worrying that it won’t last.

Jesus told a story of a farmer who had a terrific year – very prosperous crops. He began thinking about the future and knew that he didn’t have enough barns to hold all his produce. So he decided to build bigger barns so that he could store up his crops for a very lucrative future. Jesus called the man a fool because he didn’t know that he was going to die that night. He had never thought about sharing his wealth with the less fortunate. His focus was only on himself.

People may be worrying about the future – the economy that is. Maybe we should be more concerned about eternity – and spend less time building temporary barns.
