Jeremiah is a prophet with no respect. Oh, he was loyal to God - and faithful. But the people despised him. Jeremiah tells his own king that God says he will lose in battle. So, the king throws him into prison. He keeps on prophesying. He delivers a message written on a scroll for the scribes to read to the king. The king reads the message, takes out his knife, cuts up the scroll and throws it into a fire. Jeremiah writes another scroll.  He is again arrested, beaten and imprisoned again. Finally, the king calls him into the palace – to see if he will give him a favorable report. When Jeremiah can’t, he is thrown into the cistern in the middle of the court of the guardhouse. All because he was faithful to God.

Our story’s not so bad is it?
