Family Talk

Our area-wide service was wonderful, wasn’t it? It is not a good idea - and would not be an accurate assertion to say that it was the best yet. They have all been tremendous and each one has been a blessing to the city of Memphis, to the churches of Memphis, to congregations that participated, to individuals that attended and to me. I find that I am always excited when I see so many different people from so many congregations who walk through our doors. They are excited about coming and worshiping with fellow Christians, some of whom they have not seen for years! I am just as excited! Please mark your calendars for September 27, the date for our next “Journey of Faith” area-wide worship service. It will be a privilege to worship!
I know you may think I am just promoting another event but let me say honestly that I am personally convinced that one the most delightful times of the year is Vacation Bible School. It is always good! The children are always excited (Well, most of them. There are little ones that haven’t quite become accustomed to singing, but they do seem to pick up on it rather quickly) and the teens and adults particularly love combining their efforts in order to bring classes, skits, class activities and songs that will help our children understand who God is and how we can come to know Him even better. The dates for VBS are June 14-18. You’ll want to put that on your calendar and make sure you are ready for a great event. The event will culminate with the “block party” in which everyone will enjoy eating together and enjoying the games and rides that will help us get to know each other better. We do know that one way children get to know each other is to play together. At VBS, they will study together, sing together, pray together, eat together and then play together. Our target are infants through the 6th grade. You’ll enjoy our adult Bible class for all of us - along with parents of our visiting children. More on that class later. It’s great to be at Germantown!
