Family Talk
By Dave Phillips
The 2026 Vacation Bible School is now history - and as of this writing - it was a tremendous success. Because of the work of so many - and there were ‘so many,’ the children were the beneficiaries of a combined effort to share how to “Win at the Game of Life.” Of course, if it is just a game, then we’re all in trouble, but it is more than a game. We are serving our Lord in all that we do with power from a source other than ourselves. Thanks to Lori Duncan for coordinating most of our efforts. Thanks to the volunteers who worked so diligently to make this happen. All glory and praise to God for blessing us, empowering us, and bringing a large number of children (the count grew every night) to participate.
Justin Rogers came in from Henderson and we were blessed with a class on the importance of family. Keith Fussell led many in a discussion of the challenges of rearing children in 2026. These efforts were apropos in that we are quickly approaching Fathers Day, as well as many of their children were in other classes so that they could speak openly and honestly about issues they face. We thank Keith and Justin for adding to our efforts for a helpful VBS.
Our Summer Series continues with Matt Mitchell, from Woodland Hills, who will speak to us. It is a great time to hear speakers from around the city - and around the area.
We had three baptisms in the last few days. We congratulate and rejoice with Joey Robbins, Brett Dean, and Brittainy Reese, all of whom were added to the body of Christ.
