Family Talk

By Dave Phillips

Today is a special day. Anytime we gather to worship, it is a wonderful day. But then, it is also a reminder that we are doing both - gathering and worshipping. We have many who are enjoying fall break, so we will have many out of town. But as we continue to focus on “God’s Timing” in our Sunday morning sermon series (“For Such a Time as This…”), we are looking at some very powerful pictures of men and women who were inspired to trust in God. I think you’ll appreciate that we will see a common theme that repeats itself down through time and shows itself in the true-life stories of Biblical characters. We are going to see how trusting in God is very inspiring.

Tonight, at our evening service, we will be delighted to hear from Dr. Keith Harris. He is just beginning his first year at Freed-Hardeman University, so he is getting out to visit congregations. During the worship service, I’m sure he will mention a few things about FHU, but mostly, he wants to preach. He’ll be glad to briefly address the group after service in the fellowship hall and answer questions that anyone might have. Let me introduce him to you.

Keith is the President of Freed-Hardeman University, just recently succeeding David Shannon. He previously served as a minister for churches in Arkansas, and most recently as the Preaching Minister for the Lewisville church of Christ in Dallas, Texas. Keith earned a doctorate of Ministry from FHU. Keith is married to Lindsey. They have two children, Kade and Zoe. They love to golf, travel, and connect with others! We are glad to welcome them to Germantown. I hope you can come and be a part of our assembly. I’m especially looking forward to the fellowship afterwards.
