Family Talk
By Dave Phillips
Apparently, we’re in the planning stages for ‘Trunk and Treat.’ Can you believe it? It just seems as though the days on the calendar are hastening by. Of course, the days are now noticeably shorter with the sun going down earlier and earlier. But we are now officially entering into the ‘season of gladness and sadness.’ These holiday events toward the end of the year force us to look back and remember wonderful times spent with our family and friends. They will certainly be joyful times for children who are enjoying the costumes, the candy, the thoughts about Thanksgiving and Christmas at home. But there are also times for adults who treasured those times with loved ones who have gone on to their reward. Perhaps it is best for us just to think about this and consider ways in which we can make our own relationships grow stronger. ‘Trunk and ‘Treat is a great way for you to come with an open trunk filled with candy that you can distribute in a safe place and get to see the children from our neighborhood come (with parents and grandparents) in order to receive a treat and a smile. Every year we have a good group of people who come to participate. I hope you’ll be one of those this year.
In your prayers, I trust that you will be praying for Joseph and Lauren Horton, along with their children, Elise, Neely Jane, and Avery. You’ll appreciate the additional challenges they will have at the end of 2026, making all the preparations for coming to Germantown. We will all want to make them feel especially welcome as he begins his work in early January. God continues to bless the Germantown church. We all want to work together in order to keep this congregation a beacon aglow with the love of the Lord both near and far. Also, please continue to pray intensely for Sasha and Natasha. Pray that God will soon end this war and destruction.
