Family Talk

We have been involved with Shared Blessings for many years. You may not know the history. We were exploring ways to help those in the city—perhaps even supplying meals as they are needed. I talked with numerous ministers, neighborhood community leaders and church members who lived downtown, and the greatest opportunity was to help those who were appealing to the Midtown church and the Raleigh Springs church for “Thanksgiving baskets.” Of course, there are numerous sources for people to get turkeys in the downtown Memphis area, but we could provide a means by which we would provide the essentials for people to prepare their own meal, as opposed to preparing it and serving it. We calculate the cost of the food to provide enough for a great Thanksgiving meal for 8 people. We will be asking for donations, if needed.
