Is God Demanding?
Some won’t serve God because he is demanding. Well…maybe so.
There is a story in the Bible of a captain in the Syrian army named Naaman - who had leprosy. What a dreaded disease. A little girl who served Naaman’s wife told him that she knew of a prophet of God that might help him.
Naaman went as quickly as he could to find the prophet. He brought his great entourage - replete with horses and chariots to the front door of Elisha the prophet – Elisha didn’t even come to the door. He sent a message saying, “Go dip seven times in the Jordan River.”
Naaman was livid. He cried out saying, “Why didn’t he come out – and wave his hands – and call on his God – and heal me?”
And do you know, he would have gone home an angry leper had it not been for a servant who said to him, “Why not just obey?”
When he obeyed the word of God – he was healed.
Sounds like God does more than demand – he rewards.
