What Does the Lord’s Day Mean to You?
Children ask the strangest questions, don’t they? Particularly little children. And aren’t you glad they ask you? Some of the questions are easy – but then the questions get more difficult.
The Bible tells us that not only would it happen to parents – but that it was critical that the parents had the correct answer for the children. When the children asked why the commands of the Lord are important – the parents were to say because God had delivered them and had plans for them. When they crossed the Jordan River to go into the Promised Land – the Israelites were to leave a monument of stones as a memorial. When the children saw the stones, they would ask, “What do these stones mean to you?” It was an irreplaceable, teachable moment. They were to say, “God helped us cross the river.”
Well, let me ask you a question. When your children see what you are doing on the Lord’s day – and ask you what the Lord’s Day means to you – what do you say?
