We Want to Forget, But Can’t
Have there been some things in your life you’d like to forget, but can’t? Maybe it happened today – maybe years ago – and you occasionally find yourself reliving them. And when you do, those same old feelings come back. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
And often – not just amazing – but painful.
The times you embarrassed yourself?
The times you said something totally inappropriate?
Remember that hurtful comment?
There’s a passage in the Bible – in the book of Hebrews – where we are told that God earnestly desires to apply a Divine eraser – and as far as he is concerned – obliterate all the memories - of all those hideous events in our lives - from His mind.
Bottom line is that He desires to forgive us… to never again bring those thoughts to His mind. True – genuine – forgiveness. You know, I’m glad there are some things I can’t remember. I’m very glad there are so many things in my life that God has chosen not to remember.
God wants to forgive.
