We have so much for which to be grateful. We are now so focused on preparing for a season of festivity, namely our upcoming “Festi-Fall,” that it is easy to get lost in the fun that we forget the reason for giving out candy from the trunks of our cars.

Apparently, we’re in the planning stages for ‘Trunk and Treat.’ Can you believe it? It just seems as though the days on the calendar are hastening by.

Today is a special day. Anytime we gather to worship, it is a wonderful day. But then, it is also a reminder that we are doing both - gathering and worshipping.

Our area-wide worship service is a rare opportunity for as many congregations in the Memphis area as do - to participate in a singular period of worship. I’m not sure how many congregations we had present, but I know we had more than 12 represented.

It is always a great time when we can come together with brothers and sisters across the city - and the area - and worship together.

I suppose you couldn’t have crafted a more full amount of activity for two weeks than we (I) have experienced.

We are delighted to have Ralph Gilmore with us today. He will be preaching at both morning and evening services today, including our Adult Bible Study hour at 10:15 am.

I consider myself a pretty big movie fan. I enjoy the “classics” like Old Yeller and Swiss Family Robinson, and I also love the contemporaries like The Dark Knight or Interstellar.
